Schools and services like Sendsory are part of a wider safeguarding network. Everyone who works with children and families shares responsibility for keeping them safe. This means always putting the child’s needs and best interests first in all decisions and actions.

At Sendsory, we understand the unique challenges faced by children with social, emotional and mental health needs. Our safeguarding approach reflects this understanding and covers key areas such as online safety, mental health support, exploitation risks, domestic abuse, homelessness and the impact of harmful influences.

We are particularly aware of the vulnerabilities within our local community, including risks related to exploitation and county lines activity. Our safeguarding policies ensure every member of our team, including support and non-teaching staff, is fully trained and clear on how to respond to concerns swiftly and effectively.

Our safeguarding aims are to:

  • Raise awareness among staff about recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns

  • Promote clear and timely communication across our team

  • Provide clear procedures for managing child protection issues

We also work closely with families and external agencies through frameworks like the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and Team Around the Child (TAC) to ensure children and their families receive the right support at the right time.
