Our therapeutic curriculum follows a trauma-informed, relationship-centred approach designed to support emotional regulation, build trust and promote meaningful learning. Each step is carefully structured to meet children where they are - emotionally, socially and developmentally - while gently guiding them towards growth and confidence. This approach prioritises connection, co-regulation and sensory engagement, allowing children to feel safe, seen and supported as they explore new skills and ideas at their own pace.

ground
Create a calm, safe space. Regulate with sensory input (e.g., deep breathing, movement, sensory tools). Build readiness to learn by settling the nervous system.
relate
Connect emotionally and socially. Build trust through co-regulation, storytelling, play-based interaction or shared interests. Establish a relationship before expecting engagement.
offer
Gently introduce the concept. Use visual, tactile and/or verbal explanation suited to the learner’s needs. Keep language simple, predictable, and emotionally accessible.
model
Demonstrate the skill or concept. Show an example using real-life, sensory-rich contexts. Use visual aids, role play or hands-on demonstration to bring the idea to life.
invite
Offer a low-pressure opportunity to explore. Scaffold an initial attempt, perhaps through guided exploration or joint attention. Praise effort, not outcome.
explore
Allow the child to try in their own way. Encourage choice, creativity and autonomy. This may look like open-ended play, art, movement or storytelling based on the learning point.
reflect
Talk about feelings, successes and challenges. Support emotional literacy by helping the child name and understand their experience. Use tools like emotion cards, visuals or gentle prompts.
stretch
Add an appropriate challenge or generalisation opportunity. Only when the child is ready, provide an extension to deepen understanding or transfer the skill to a new context.
